Hearth & Range Service Co. Independent service for Wolf cooking appliances

About us

An independent shop

We are an independent repair company. We are not part of any manufacturer service network, and we service Wolf cooking appliances because that is the equipment we know best.

The same arrival seen from the other side of the doorway, wood cabinets and a stainless refrigerator beyond
Independent, and small enough that the same hands show up.

What independent means here

It means exactly what it says. Hearth & Range Service Co. is not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by Wolf or Sub-Zero Group, Inc.. We are not in any factory service network and we do not claim to be. When you call us you are calling a shop that answers to the person who owns the appliance and to nobody else.

We are specific about this because the distinction is worth something to you. An independent shop has no parts quota, no network scorecard and no reason to steer a diagnosis toward a component that happens to be in a program. If the honest answer is that your igniter electrode was wet, or that a drawer packed to the ceiling is blocking your induction cooktop's cooling intake, or that the appliance is fine and the ductwork behind it is the problem, that is what you get told and what goes in writing.

We use the Wolf name on this site for one reason only: to identify the equipment we work on. No manufacturer logo appears anywhere here, no manufacturer typeface, and no manufacturer colour scheme.

Cooking only, and why

We work on cooking equipment: ranges, rangetops, cooktops, wall ovens, convection steam ovens, warming drawers, coffee systems, microwaves, vacuum-seal drawers, ventilation hoods and outdoor grills. Wolf does not build refrigeration — that is Sub-Zero, a sister brand under the same parent — so a refrigerator call is not one we take.

Wolf sits under Sub-Zero Group, Inc., which also owns other appliance brands. We do not service those. This company works on Wolf cooking equipment and nothing else, and if your kitchen needs refrigeration or dishwashing attended to, you will need someone else for it.

Built-in cooking equipment is heavy, cabinet-mounted, frequently ducted and sometimes plumbed. Doing that work every day is what makes an unusual fault recognisable rather than a research project conducted at your expense.

EPA Section 608 certified technicians

EPA Section 608 is the federal certification required to open a sealed refrigeration system. Our technicians hold it. It is a government credential and carries no manufacturer endorsement.

That is the only credential we claim, and we mention it because it is a federal requirement rather than a marketing badge. It is worth knowing which claims on any repair company's website are verifiable and which are decoration.

How we work

Every visit starts by reproducing the fault. That sounds obvious and it is skipped constantly. A convection fan that howls only when the oven is hot has to be heard hot. An oven that drifts has to be measured across a full heat-and-hold cycle with a calibrated probe, because the display on the front tells you what the appliance intends and nothing about what it achieves. A hood that is loud and useless gets an airflow check at the baffles before anyone talks about a blower.

Then we separate causes from symptoms, which is the part that takes experience. A sagging door hinge presents as a baking problem. A partly surge-damaged control board presents as a failed heating element. A warped pan presents as a broken induction cooktop. Replacing the symptom is how people end up paying for the same repair twice.

A $129 flat diagnostic fee covers the visit and the diagnosis, and it is credited toward the repair if you go ahead with the work. You get a written estimate before anything is replaced.

Labor is warranted for 90 days and parts for 365 days. We fit genuine OEM parts.

Where we work

We cover 40 miles by road from Fruit Cove in St. Johns County. Every distance we publish is drive distance, measured on the road you would actually take, not a straight line on a map.

We publish drive distances because a straight-line radius is a marketing device rather than a fact. Thirty miles across the water is not thirty minutes, and pretending otherwise wastes your morning. Every figure on our area pages is the route we would actually take.

Talk to us about your appliance

Tell us the appliance and the symptom and we will tell you what we think is going on before anyone drives anywhere.
