# Looking for a Wolf parts distributor? Check the warranty and the part number first

Where genuine Wolf parts actually come from, why a part still under Wolf's five-year coverage should be requested from Wolf rather than bought, which filters, bulbs and kits an owner can order by number, and how to read the rating plate so the part fits the first time.

You will not find one Wolf parts distributor that handles everything. Genuine Wolf parts reach owners through Wolf's own parts and accessories ordering, through technicians in Wolf's service network, and through independent parts houses that stock genuine OEM pieces. The right route depends on two questions: is the part still covered by Wolf, and do you know its exact number? Filters, bulbs and descaler you can order yourself. A covered repair part, such as a control board in its fourth year, should come from Wolf directly, because Wolf will not refund one you bought somewhere else.

## Check the warranty before you shop

Wolf's residential warranty has two layers, and both count from the date the appliance was originally installed, not the date you moved in. The first two years are a full warranty: any part that turns out defective in materials or workmanship under ordinary home use is covered, labor included.

From year three through year five the coverage narrows to a named list: gas burners (but not their appearance), electric heating elements, hood blower motors, electronic control boards, magnetron tubes and induction generators. Wolf pays for the part; labor and other costs are yours. That split is exactly why shopping for a distributor can backfire. If your technician works outside Wolf's network, the covered part still has to be requested from Wolf, and a blower or board you order on your own will not be reimbursed.

Some things drop out early. Cosmetic flaws on stainless steel and on powder-coated doors supplied by Wolf are covered for just 60 days, and recirculating-kit replacement filters are excluded. Coverage also applies only to homes in the fifty states, the District of Columbia and Canada's ten provinces. The [warranty page](/warranty/) sets out how this fits alongside a repair warranty.

## Parts an owner can order by number

A handful of Wolf parts are designed to pass through the owner's hands. These are the numbers Wolf publishes:

| Part | Fits | Wolf number |
|---|---|---|
| Baffle filter, 11-7/8 by 11-7/8 inches | Pro wall hoods such as the PW302418 | 811180 |
| Mesh filter | VW30S, VW36S and VI42S cooktop hoods | 825596 |
| Descaling solution | Convection steam ovens | 820021 |

Pro ventilation hoods use 3000K GU10 lamps, which come out with the suction-cup changer supplied with the hood and a quarter turn. Wall hoods 27 inches deep take R40 250W heat lamps. Those are bulb specifications rather than Wolf numbers, so match the type, wattage and colour exactly.

The descaler is the one item never to swap. Wolf asks for its specified solution only, a whole bottle every cycle, because other descaling products can damage the steam oven for good. If scale warnings persist after a full cycle, see [convection steam oven repair](/what-we-fix/convection-steam-oven/).

## Genuine or aftermarket

For filters, the question is fit. A baffle filter that sits slightly loose in its frame lets grease slip past and coat the blower and duct, which is the opposite of what it is there for. A copy that matches the dimensions and seats firmly is a judgement call; a genuine filter removes the guesswork.

Anything that handles gas, heat or the control logic is different. Burner valves, igniters, oven sensors and touch panels are matched to a specific model, and a part that only looks right can run for a week and then fail under a self-clean or a long roast. Stay with genuine OEM parts there, and remember that a covered failure needs a Wolf-supplied part anyway.

## Getting the part number right

Parts follow the model and serial number, not the look of the appliance. Two ranges of the same width can use different boards. Before ordering, photograph the rating plate; where it sits varies between ovens, ranges and hoods, and the use and care guide shows the spot. Wolf also wants the installation date and the selling dealer's name for any warranty claim, so keep those with the photo. Registering the appliance online, or in Wolf's owner app, saves digging for them later.

If a seller lists something as suitable for Wolf without quoting a Wolf number, ask for that number and check it against your model before paying.

## When to stop shopping and book a diagnosis

Buying parts by symptom gets costly. A burner that refuses to light might need an igniter, a spark module or a valve, and an electrical part that has been installed is often not returnable. The $80 diagnostic names the failed part and its number before anything is ordered. A control board or touch panel replacement typically falls in the $440–$1,050 range, with the firm figure given after diagnosis; [pricing](/pricing/) shows the other bands.

Hearth & Range Service Co. is an independent repair service that fits genuine OEM parts on Wolf cooking appliances across Northeast Florida, from Orange Park and Mandarin down to St. Augustine.

## What does a repair usually cost?

Flat $80 diagnostic covering the visit and the full diagnostic sequence, credited toward the repair once you approve the work.

The bands that apply to this page, parts and labor together:

| What gets put right | Typical range |
| --- | --- |
| Diagnostic visit | $80 flat |
| Control board or touch panel | $440–$1,050 |
| Burner valve or orifice service | $220–$690 |

A range is the honest answer before the panel is off; the firm figure goes in the written estimate, before anything is ordered. We do not quote a repair over the telephone.

## Questions this raises

**Can I buy a Wolf control board myself and have any technician fit it?**

You can, but inside five years of installation it throws away the coverage. Wolf covers electronic control boards for that period, and it will not pay back the cost of a board bought from another source. A technician outside Wolf's network has to request the covered board from Wolf instead. After year five, a genuine board from a reputable supplier is reasonable, as long as its number matches your model and serial.

**Are hood filters covered by the Wolf warranty?**

Replacement filters for a hood recirculating kit are excluded by name, so expect to buy those yourself. For ducted hoods, order by number: pro wall hoods such as the PW302418 take baffle filter 811180, and the VW30S, VW36S and VI42S cooktop hoods take mesh filter 825596.

**What should I have ready before asking about a part?**

A clear photo of the rating plate showing the model and serial number, the date the appliance was installed, and the name of the dealer who sold it. Wolf asks for all of those on a warranty claim. Add a short note of the symptom and when it started, since that is what points to the right part.

**Can I fit a Wolf gas conversion kit myself?**

Wolf recommends that a service technician carry out any gas conversion. On DF3050-DF6050 dual-fuel ranges, kit 829533 takes the range from natural gas to LP and kit 829536 goes back the other way. On LP, the griddle is the only part that loses output, and it drops by 2,000 Btu.

**Do I need to order an anti-tip bracket for a new range?**

Usually not. On current dual-fuel and induction ranges the bracket is packed in the foam wedge of the cavity kit box inside the oven, so check there before ordering. If it was thrown out, the anti-tip kit is part 829936, with bolt 9027407 and washer 6240050. Wolf says the device should always be installed.
